With a market size of US$1.04 billion and an import ratio of up to 9%, and an average growth rate of more than 7% in 3 years, Vietnam’s medical materials market is expected to be a key market for the expansion of new southbound medical materials, and the Vietnamese government provides low-tariff preferences for the import of medical equipment, with tariffs of about 0-3% for each product
Vietnam’s healthcare infrastructure is overstretched and the existing medical equipment is mostly old and outdated, so the government is investing resources in infrastructure and healthcare reform policies, which is expected to drive demand for medical devices and continue to develop positively. However, due to the limited energy of local manufacturers, Vietnam’s medical device market as a whole is highly dependent on imports, with the proportion of imported supply as high as 94.4%. According to WTO statistics, Vietnam has a total population of 94.6 million, the 14th largest country in the world, and has a strong demographic dividend. And the Vietnamese market offers an affordable workforce, as well as a growing demand for healthcare.
